Important Update From the Creator of Marvel Guides

If you’re a fan of Marvel Guides, you know that I spend lots of time thinking about long-form stories. While that obsession may have started with comics, it didn’t end there.

For the last several years, I’ve been slowly working on a novel, and I’m finally ready to share it with the world. That book is called The Last Beacon, and it’s currently in a reader-driven publishing campaign on Inkshares. Inkshares is a crowdfunding platform where pre-orders determine whether a book gets published. If the campaign hits 750 pre-orders, the book gets a full publishing deal. If it doesn’t, everyone who ordered gets automatically refunded.

Here’s a brief synopsis:
Tragedy swallows an idyllic small town when a boy is found dead atop the local lighthouse. While hunting for his killer, a young detective who harbors her own destructive secret discovers a threat that could unravel the very fabric of reality.

If you like genre-blending stories, slow reveals, complex character arcs, cosmic or psychological horror, or mysteries that don’t behave the way you expect them to, this book is for you.

You can read a preview of the first three chapters and pre-order at:

I know updates have been slow on the site recently, but I promise Marvel Guides isn’t going anywhere. In fact, once the campaign is fully funded, I’ll have more time and energy to put toward new reading orders (yes, including the next chapter of the Bronze Age).

If you’ve ever found my site useful, or if you’re just interested in helping someone’s dream project become a reality, I really hope you’ll take a chance on my book.

Thank you so much!

Matt
